Hawkins are pleased to be able to provide this testimonial for Sansom for their excellent work at the
Totara Haumaru Northshore Hospital project for Health NZ Waitemata. The total project value was
$220mil+ and Sansom provided various waterproofing services at a number of stages of the project.
Sansom were invited to engage with the project design team at the beginning of the project to
provide their expert advice on several waterproofing details for the architect. This resulted in best
practice detailing and build methodologies being incorporated into the project from the start due to
the input from the Sansom team. The Hawkins team consulted with Sansom’s management to
ensure we had the buildability and sequencing correct for the staging of the project. Sansom’s
communication and advice was clear and pragmatic during this phase and throughout the entire
project.

The on-site Sansom team provided exceptional service to us as the main contractors. Works
completed included the volclay tanking across a 5000m2 building footprint including waterproofing
to the under-slab, pile caps, ground beams, lift pits, service pits, perimeter set-downs and concrete
joint surfaces. Further to this Sansom’s package included the precast panel façade waterproofing
including the jointing to over 450 large concrete façade panels. Sansom’s work was always
completed on or ahead of time while quality levels were maintained to a very high standard. Quality
assurance checks and associated documentation was always completed thoroughly and in a timely
manner. Sansom demonstrated versatility and a helpful can-do attitude when the project was
presented with challenges.
Finally, and most importantly, the Sansom team planned well for safety and maintained a good
health and safety culture during their daily site activities. Hawkins wouldn’t hesitate to recommend
